Celebrate Pet Appreciation Week with Palladium Roofing

Next week, starting June 5th, it will be Pet Appreciation Week! We at Palladium Roofing love animals, especially dogs, and we often volunteer and foster dogs in need.

A dive into the history of Pet Appreciation Week

The American Veterinary Medical Association initiated Pet Appreciation Week back in 1988. They created this to raise awareness of the benefits of pets in our daily lives.

Owning a pet (or two or three or four) has positive effects on people, such as physical and mental health. Plus, they’re kind of adorable!

Check out some statistics

According to ASPCA:

  • Approximately 6.3 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year.
  • Only about three to four million cats and dogs are adopted from shelters each year.
  • Each year, approximately 920,000 shelter animals are euthanized. This means that five out of every ten shelter dogs each year amounts to about 5,500 euthanized dogs every day.
  • There are about 70 million stray animals living in the U.S.

How you can help

If you have a pet, be sure to engage and bond with them, stay up-to-date and educated on pet-related health issues, and make them feel cared for.

If you want to help animals in need, Palladium Roofing recommends Bella Foundation. We have fostered fluffy companions from Bella Foundation many times; they truly care for the well-being of animals.

If you can’t take on any more animals or simply can’t have them, we encourage you to donate to your favorite animal organization or shelter. They are always in need of funds for food, medical care, dog beds, and more. The smallest donation can make a world of difference.
